Dean took me to this vegan asian fusion soul food place called Red Bamboo that was exquisite and had scary convincing faux-meat dishes, then he showed me some hot spots in Manhattan where we roved with his friends for a while and bar-hopped until 3 a.m (Pieces, Stonewall, Big Top, DILF). Nearly everything in my body hurts, but I had fun. It was other-worldly. This is the view from the place I’m staying at, which has roof access. I didn’t get here til 2 am because I barred it up in Philly until 11 with my pals Eric, Seamus and Dan. The New Jersey Turnpike had construction and traffic (like every highway in America right now). I couldn’t get in touch with Lawrence, who’s loft I’m staying in, because he’s in France and was having phone issues, but I showed up to the brick/industrial looking loft building and found an envelope in the mailbox that said “Rob Wolfsham” in big letters and inside were keys. I climbed up four flights of stairs and went to straight to sleep in my bed. The bed is up in the ceiling and requires climbing a slide to get to. That was fun while exhausted with highway hypnosis and my backpack.</p> <p>I woke up this morning around 10 and found a beautiful, built, golden long-haired man sitting in the kitchen/living area in a tight black v-neck. A giant movie camera sat on the bar counter and he was typing on a laptop. It’s an incredible structure. Dan and I got a tour by our friend Seamus (<a target="_blank" href="http://daysrunaway.tumblr.com">daysrunaway</a>), who is a fun, extremely knowledgeable and accessible mason and guide. The road trip has been great so far and I’m glad I’m out here. Pittsburgh was magic, and I might be heading back there on the 20th to do a reading being put on by some friends. I’m not sure what story I’ll read though. I’m still wrapping my head around the idea of reading one of my published stories to a crowd. PGH seems to have a decent, proactive queer/arts community there. Dan’s gonna show me some Philly today and then I leave for Brooklyn this evening.
